copiling the kernel-2.6

Hi...

I have one problem, I recently install Fedora Core 2, without problems.

the steps :

#make menuconfig <-- Load file /boot/config-[kernel-version]
#make all 
#make modules_install
#make install

And restart ...  Everything goes well works of wonder.  BUT I pay
attention to the directory

/lib/modules/[kernel-version-custom]

[root at nucleo2 modules]# du -hs *
57M     2.6.5-1.358
339M    2.6.5-1.358custom1
57M     2.6.6-1.435.2.1
327M    2.6.6-custom
[root at nucleo2 modules]# pwd
/lib/modules
[root at nucleo2 modules]# 


As can you see the directories created by the compilation process
are huge , compared with _default_ kernel FEDORA CORE 2.

any suggestion...?
