Recording my voice

Hello,

I have just attempted to use Sound Recorder (2.6.0 as distributed with
FC2) for the first time ever.

As soon as I hit the record button, it bombs out.

Where can I look for error messages, or any other information that
might help.

My microphone is plugged into the front panel of my Audigy
Platinum. I've never used the microphone with the audigy before, either.
