Auto-playing DVDs with Totem

In "Preferences -> CD and DVD" I've selected "Run command when DVD
(video) is inserted" under "DVD (Video)" and entered

totem %d

as the command. Magicdev is running, and Data CDs and Audio CDs
automount/play when I insert them. But when I insert a DVD nothing
happens. I have to manually start Totem and select Movie -> Play DVD.
I'm assuming that the above command is wrong in some way (presumably the
"%d") but nothing in man totem, Totem's help pages, or in
/usr/share/doc/totem-0.99.12/ sheds any light on what the correct
invocation of totem should be. (I can't remember where I got the %d
syntax from, now. I believe I read it on a web page somewhere.)

Could someone shed some light on this for me?
