Nope. That's there because that's what a separator should be denoted by
- two "-" and a space. It is listed in one of the rfcs. Unlike OE (or
Outlook), you'll find that mail clients on just about everyother
platform get this right.

A signature doesn't go at the top of an email - it wouldn't be a
signature then! As for the rest of what you've said, can you explain
what you mean a bit more clearly?
