Alexander is good at giving polite reminders.  I'm not.  In order to get help it is in your best interest to not hide your question.  It doesn't really mean anything to me personally if you are a "Fedora convert" or not.

Turns off DMA for ide devices.  Some combinations of drives and hard drive controllers interact weird with FC if DMA is on.  One example would be the newer Intel controllers and FC1.  It is possible you are seeing something similar.
