OT: vpn questions (stops using my internet connection and starts using the gateways?)

Like I said, most likely the system admins will tell you that will not
be allowed since it could possibly permit direct access from the
Internet through your computer past the company firewall directly into
the company intranet.

It is more of a policy type decision since I know there is software out
there like Checkpoints Secure Remote that permits both types of access
depending on how it is configured.

Personally as a system admin I would have the VPNs locked down to
prevent/lessen the possibility of exposing the company infrastructure.

But then I am paranoid.  (where did I put my tin foil hat....)  :)
