Firefox and Konqueror wont close

Hello list;
  I have an intermittent problem, not being able to close a browser.
Clicking on the 'X' and right click->close both fail.

Doing a 'kill -9 xxxx' works, buts kills all instances.

Is anyone else seeing this?
