installing fedora core 2

This selection does not sound like what I see when installing. I don't 
remember being asked what method I wish to use for the install.

Try typing linux, then pressing enter. It sounds like you are installing 
in expert mode or another method, like askmethod.

I could be wrong about not seeing the install from CD, but I just 
clicked past it, if it exists.

Another possibility is the burn did not come out clean. Did you run the 
mediacheck on all discs before trying to install?

Also, it is a good idea to check the downloaded iso images with the 
MD5SUMS file that is with the disk. You download this file, then while 
in the directory with the ISO images, you type the below.

md5sum -c MD5SUM

This should run a test of what the images should checksum with.
