Scsi2 is up to 8 devices.  Ultra-scsi is up to 16 devices per 
controller.  Most modern controllers and drives are ultra-scsi.

I just recently built a box with 9 scsi drives on a single controller. 
 The price was right and the biggest problem was a case capable of 
holding that many drives. 18GB scsi drives are readily available for 
about $10 each.
