Fedora core 1 or 2 on IBM Iseries

	Well, I'm not familiar with your hardware, but it is rare indeed to
find that a linux would not run from a logical partition.  Certain older
BIOS's did not allow for a bootable partition above a certain level
(cylinder 1024?) but that has been mostly fixed for a very long time. 
You could always try it (it's cheap!) or rearrange your partitions to
get the /boot partition to be a primary partition.  How many OS's are
you running anyway?
