Do let the IRAF folks know about this.  It looks like a serious and
fun package.  I see in the release notes that there are RedHat and FC1
binaries and comments at this time.  So they need FC2 notes to use
legacy ptys for now and put this issue on the record so other users
are not blindsided.

It should be a modest amount of work to use the new style of ptys
and generate a patch.  New style ptys should work on almost any Linux
so this would be a positive change.  Recompiling kernels will get
tedious.
