Sound lost after starting KDE

Everything was fine with my FC2 with Audigy x-gamer

>> until I started KDE by mistake; now my sound is gone

stop the artsd through the control centre and do a
killall -9 artsd. I managed through this. hope this
helps

Arts is not working on my system:

$ killall -9 artsd
artsd: no process killed

neither appears in: $ ps -ax
