multivolume tape backup

Hi, 

I am trying to read multivolume DAT tape that I wrote using tar -M on redhat 9  on Fedora Core 2 and when I try to insert the second tape, it tells me that the tape is not the one that is supposed to be. I tryed to read the tapes back on Redhat 9 to see if I had some kind of tape failure and I was able to read all of them without any trouble.

The tape backup is a scsi one.

Has anybody tried to do multivolume tar on FC2? I even tried with star
without any luck...
