Freshrpms has been working flawlessly for me since the days of RH9. Add
these lines to yum.conf:

[freshrpms]
name=Fedora Linux $releasever - $basearch - freshrpms
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/fedora/linux/$releasever/$basearch/freshrpms

Then do a "yum install xine"
That should provide you a good multimedia player. You can continue
on your own from here. ;-)
