Things work better if you provide real IP addresses. It's hard to see 
whether "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" has a mistake in it.

Your netmask is *NOT* your gateway. The netmask is a conceptual number that 
defines the network you are in, and the gateway is exactly that... the gate 
through which you pass to go outside. Different things.

Can you provide us with your *actual* IP configuration?
