 If you want to install it just uninstall the rpms from Fedora,
download the binary tar file and install it as root. It places
everyting in /usr/local/ then you just run setup to install it. 
 In KDE the Open Office menu appear and in Gnome you need to add
a launcher on the toolbar or desktop to soffice.
