you stud. i just did this manually with:
# modprobe scsi_mod max_luns=5 (i guess i could have used 3 here)
then connected the reader with a FAT-formatted CF card already in it,
and got:

and mounted /dev/sdb1 just fine. boy, wouldn't it have been great
if this had been in a wiki somewhere? :-P

yeah ... bugzilla ... RFE ... whitelist ... ok, i'll figure that out.

p.s. is there some way to list the options with which a module was
loaded? "lsmod" shows me scsi_mod, but i don't see an easy way of
listing that it was loaded with a given max_luns value of 5. perhaps
something under /proc?
