Asus P4C800 Deluxe and FC2

Hi

I recently bought an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe mainboard and a Intel Pentium 4
hyperthreading CPU.

When I booted into the installer the kernel complained about an ever
screaming interrupt request line (IRQ 11 if I get my memory right).

Install went through, but VERY slow. Even on my Thinkpad install went
faster.

When I rebooted after install, the SMP-Kernel again complained about the
IRQ-Line, now it was IRQ 169, but that's probably the same one as
before, but now on APIC. Then the Kernel freezed.

With the non-SMP-Kernel the same happens (IRQ 11).
FC1 does not even reach the installer.

The latest Knoppix-Live-CD freezes too (Knoppix 3.4, www.knopper.net).
I event tried the special FC2-AsusP4P800-Install-CD someone created.

Does anyone know a solution to this?

I'm very desperate, I have a fine lump of expensive hardware without a
proper OS to run on ;-(

My Hardware, in case this helps:
- Asus P4C800 Deluxe Mobo
- Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
- ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card from HIS
- Maxtor (parallel) ATA 133 on primary IDE-Controller (NO SATA!)
- A LG DVD-Drive and a Plextor CD-RW burner (I don't remember exact models)
- USB mouse and keyboard

PS: Of course I played with almost evry parameter in BIOS
(enabled/disabled integrated hardware, toggled hyperthreading etc.), and
of course I have the latest BIOS.

Best regards
