Alsa Xmms which one ?

check your xmms config.

Start xmms.

Check aumix and alsamixer volume levels.

On xmmms,
find the O on the left upper area (for options) click and select
preferences from the pull down.  Check your input and output plugins.
My guess is that the output is not what you expect or the volume was zero.
