I will say that going from 8 to FC1 was not a perfect upgrade but it
worked for me. Most applications worked with no problems.
Any customized stuff may have problems but that is expected. Mainly
with where RH/FC installs software in comparison to applications that
were downloaded from the maintainers site. FC came with some
applications that I had installed from source or other rpms and
installed in different locations.
After 3 months I have found only a few problems and most of these are
not related to RH8 or FC but customized applications or configuration
files.
Use the CD's for the upgrade and then apply the patches. Just after I
upgraded one machine from RH8 to FC, I built a new machine using FC
and it was a dream.
