list of duplicate packages installed?

Hi,

I'm trying to generate a list of duplicate packages that are installed on my 
system.  I've been trying to use apt-get and rpm to do this.  Sometimes apt 
tells me there's lots of duplicate packages and other times it doesn't.  How 
can I do this?  Thanks,
