MS Intellimice optical 'shutting down' anyone?

I have an ATI Rage128 video card with standard ati driver. Latest XFree
update. Mouse is Logitech corded optical wheel mouse. The mouse protocol
is IMPS/2. My uptime is 11 days since last mouse trouble.
