VNC viewer only can see xtern in remote desktop

If you check the archives, you will see that you might need to edit
this file..

vi ~/.vnc/vncstartup

and put there the desktop you want.

On another note.. Why not use native X or ssh -X (X Forwarding using SSH?)
It works great on mine. All I need is

ssh -X -l User server
# xterm &
or 
# gedit &

and it'll come out on your station1 desktop.

(note: I think you need to enable ssh forwarding in /etc/ssh_config or
sshd_config.
I forget)
