Problem with sound card

You forgot to mention what type of MainBoard do you have. If you have a VIA
based one, I'd suggest recompilation of the kernel with VIA 82C686 Codec
compile as a module or directly into the kernel. (you'll find the option in
the menuconfig or xconfig under the Sound menu.
If you have an Intel or SiS mainboard, the chances are to be an ICH (Intel' IO
Controller Hub) and you'll find the option for that soundcard under the same
menu. If you think Fedora already compiled the modules for you.. I cannot
check that, not having a Fedora box right now, then search for them into /
lib/modules/_kernel_version_/kernel/drivers/sound, and after identifying the
respective modules.. modprobe & voila. You should also add a line or two in
your /etc/modules.conf to load them whenever you need sound. I'm not familiar
with that situation, 'cause I like to use monolithic kernels (no modules,
thank you.. :) )
