gnome / kde

	Hi all,

I plan to use http://www.kdevelop.org as my C++ (and java) ide. I compared
its features with other packages like 

- http://anjuta.org/anjuta.php?page=home 
- MinGW (http://www.parinya.ca/)
- eclipse

Now the only feature that make me still hesitate is its
kde only support (no gnome version).

As I am not a linux expert in desktop manager, I would like
to know the impact of being forced to developp on KDE. 

For instance, can I use libxml2? 

My feeling is that everything that I will developp with Kdevelopp
will be runnable on KDE and GNOME as far as I don't use some
specific API existing only in KDE. Is it true?
