nobody is a system account for special use. See /etc/passwd:

nobody:x:99:99:Nobody:/:/sbin/nologin

If you see 504 or any other number like 502 then you see the UID (User
ID). The UID and GID (Group ID) are more relevant than the name. Account
names are more for human beings as they better memorize their letter
name. Seeing UID in listing is often cause by account names being too
long, then for shortness the UID is displayed.
