I use Evo's filters to move incoming e-mails to specific sub-folders
within my Inbox to organize e-mails from the many lists that I subscribe
to as well as based upon one of two e-mail accounts that I have.

I use SpamAssassin to filter spam and e-mails containing MS executable
file types (after having modified the SA user_prefs file to score these
properly). This takes care of 99.9% of the stuff and only rarely do I
have to train SA. E-mails tagged in this fashion are moved directly to
the Trash folder.

That is correct.

Could be. There were times during the past worm attacks that my ISP's
mail servers slowed notably due to the high traffic volumes. During
those times, even though I had downloaded e-mails (and I do not keep
copies on the server), the e-mails would download multiple times because
the servers would not update to show that they had already been
downloaded. I would have to go to the web e-mail interface and delete
the e-mails that way to clear the folders.

I have not had that problem in some time though as my ISP has put other
filtering mechanisms in place to curtail the traffic volume.
