up2date recovery in fedora (fwd)

Hi,

I was trying to up2date my PC fedora version 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl #1.
The installation didn't complete. There was no error message 
it just hung. When rebooting the system the X-server doesn't work
properly and maybe other things also. I checked the files on 
/var/spool/up2date and many rpm files
are still there. Is there any way of recovering at this point?
The installed version of XFree now is 4.3.0-55. I thought I would delete
it and reinstall the original version with no luck. There were too many
dependencies. Up2date now doesn't work in a gui display mode.
Any help will be appreciated.
