ATI Troubles

Hello,
    I installed the ATI Properietery drivers today. Everything worked 
perfectly except for the refresh rate. I tried tweaking the VertSync and 
HorizRefresh but that did nothing. At 1600x1200 the refresh rate was 
75Hz no matter what. I tried making a modeline using gft but that did 
not work either. Then I tried to run a modeline not for 1600x1200 but 
for 1600x1000, and that worked. How can I fix this?
