Wrong.  MySQL is released under the GNU GPL and is "Free Software" in
all meanings of the words.

The problem is that several other things use the MySQL client library,
and their licenses are incompatible with the GPL.  The MySQL client
library used to be licensed under the LGPL, which was compatible with
the other licenses.  So, if Fedora shipped the GPL MySQL client library,
they couldn't ship other things that link against it, which would make
more people mad.
