Don't know if you're aware of it, but vpnc
(http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/vpnc/) works great for me
on the Fedora Core 2 kernel.
The only 'flaw' is that it doesn't support rekeying, so needs
a kick every 8 hours to restart it.
