How to install from hard drive..alternate method?

If you are using gnome, you should be able to right click on the ISO
file, and select burn to CD (assuming your CD-ROM is set up properly).

That's how I normally burn all my ISO files.

You could also install k3b, xcdroast or a couple of other gui front ends
to burning CD's.
