Fc2 Vfs kernel panic after upgrade from Fc1 using Volume Management

Running under VMWare...

Originally I had installed Fc1 and opted for the Volume Management
arrangement. The default was to setup root (/) as
/dev/Volume00/LogVol01 . After upgrading to Fc2, the kernel panics and
is not able to find the root FS. Sounds like the default Fc2 kernel
doesn't have my requisite VMS modules?? Interestingly enough the Fc2
installer kernel could see it and so can the Fc2 Rescue Cd. Any
recommendations??

Thanks in advance,
Peter Smith
