after about 45 minutes of trying this over and over again, it finally
found a mirror that worked almost instantly.  nevertheless, it did not
present me with a list of packages that weren't installed and that
allowed me to install those new packages.  And that's what i'm talking
about... yum is a tool which allows you to update packages _and_ install
new ones.  If we could get a GUI frontend for yum which supports all of
yum's features, it would benefit everyone IMHO
