Fedora Core 2 - Can't get mail, download or browse web pages

This is a no-op;
  I have spent two days trying to figure out how to get this browser
issue resolved, and I would like to contribute to the community at large
by telling them what went wrong. FC2 has something in it that breaks
webbrowsing for me; without such a basic service this is not a usable
operating system. I disabled tcp_ecn and it still did not work, I
replaced the resolv.conf and it did not work, I completely wiped my
previous configurations and it did not work...
  I have gone back to a functioning web browser on FC1; all my best; if
anyone has any guidance as to how to get this to work, please tell me
and I will start again, but right now I have a dissertation to complete.
