Try quitting Mozilla, and running
mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla-tm
Mozilla will recreate its settings directory from scratch: you will need
to re-set up any proxies, etc. If that solves it, you may want to copy
stuff out of the old .mozilla-tm directory into the new, notably
.mozilla-tm/default/$RANDOM_LETTERS/bookmarks.html and
.mozilla-tm/default/$RANDOM_LETTERS/cookies.txt.

HTH,

James.
