dmesg. Maybe the driver had some problems. eg: I cannot use the DC10 I 
have because my mobo is a blinking VIA (KT266A) chipset.

I am just happy the PCTV works at all.

add? v4l is available already on RH9.

I have a Miro PCTV and it works out of the box.
