change the resolution when launching a specific software

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to change the resolution of my computer when launching a specific application. Indeed, I have a 22'' screen in 1600*1200 but when I use mythtv, I have to use 800*600 resolution to get better “results” as my Pundit video is not that powerful in 1600*1200 :)
