Recompiling the kernel?

There was a thread about how to do this with many
pros/cons/opinions/tricks/techniques/etc. all of which are valid given
the circumstances of the persons needs. All these would be good reading.

Also the source comes with enough documentation for a first time compile
if you have done any programming. The documentation is almost in cook
book sequence.
