Download FC3 by CD via bittorent

This is because you did not install a binary RPM but at SRC.RPM (source
rpm). Get BitTorrent RPM not from the SRPMS section on fedora.us but the
RPMS.stable.

With this given information hardly to answer. Is Java working?
