Thanks Ken,

I was not aware that it was the ide-cd driver and didn't have any idea 
as the solution proclaimed as a link.

I did an installation that required all 4 of the installation CDs and 
there were no disc errors with the discs. I never verified the rescue 
CD, I guess I ought to for safety.
