Not having enough info from your post (image file names, program & OS
used to record images on cd, computer characteristics), probably you
fail on some of these:

1. You must burn ISOs as image files (do not record CDs with one ISO
file in the root dir). It works with any program, from cdrecord to Nero.

2. Your cdrom must be able to boot from CD. If the computer is too old,
maybe it cant'.

3. The first disk is the bootable one. 

4. The preferrable architecture is i386, be aware when you download CDs.
My first image is "FC3-i386-disc1.iso".
