I just recently subscribed to this list to seek help. Theis group is excellent. I have on observation on installing any Linux system or upgrade. Please take this in a friendly way as uneducated observations from a Linux newbie with lots of years as a systems librarian on VMS and now Solaris systems.

It seems to me that Linux and Fedora Core would be much more popular if it wasn't so hard to get an initial installation done on a machine. Why hasn't anyone worked out a method where one simply downloads an initial file either onto a floppy or on to a hard drive where one simply clicks on it and the install or upgrade then proceeds by downloading off of the Internet?

I keep hearing how good Linux is for using on older computers yet many older computers do not hae the ability to burn CD-ROMs or may not even have CD-ROM drives in many cases. Make installs or upgrades simply a download and a click and the use of Linux will expand greatly.
