simple Linux installs?

Bill,

Welcome to the list and GNU/Linux. Installations are already possible
over a network by http:// ftp:// nfs, and from the ISO images on a hard
drive. The first CD has suitable boot floppy images.

Installing by CDROM is very popular, so you hear more about it.
