FC3 and original kernel linux-2.6.9 problem

Hi,

I installed FC3 with root filesystem and swap partition not inside the
"Linux LVM", that is, /dev/hda1 as /boot, /dev/hda2 as /, and
/dev/hda3 as swap partition. But after I installed the original kernel
linux-2.6.9 and configured the grub.conf with

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9 ro root=/dev/hda2 rhgb quiet

the booting always hangs after "uncompress linux, successful"

Could anybody please help me? Thank you.
