FC2 and RPM

Newbie question:

FC2 seems to be set up reasonably well using KDE gui, but I understood
that rpm files should auto-install when I dbl-click them?

What happens is that an "rpm" process starts on the taskbar, egg-times
for about 20 seconds, then disappears.  That's all. 

I suppose I could do it all via the command line, but what do I need
to do to get dbl-clicking to activate it properly?
