FWIW I'm seeing that exact problem w/ my machine as well (using the
WPC11v3 as well).
You probably should bugzilla.

Things to try:
Try using another wireless nic (not the linksys) --beg--borrow--steal :)
I believe the upstream orinoco_cs driver may differ from the version
shipped w/ core 3. In the past applying a patch to that driver would
allow the card to scan, go into promiscuous mode etc. If this is still
the case then patching the driver from upstream might help.
