Short term you can work around by telling yum to explicitly install
some packages beforehand like mentioned in the bug above:

yum install alsa-lib libasound2 libxml2 libxml2_2

Long term I have reported this bug to the yum list, and hope this to
be fixed soon. I believe this is a yum 2.1.x bug only, 2.0.x is
probably fine.
