Fwd: USB Sound in FC3

I wiped the drive and reinstalled, out of concern that it was an
upgrade issue. I didn't install the SELinux extensions this time.

The problem persists.

Hello,

I upgraded from FC2 to FC3 last night. It went pretty smoothly,
except for the facts that I have to re-think my relationship with
/etc/fstab, and my USB sound stopped working.

I ran system-config-soundcard, chose the USB device (second tab) and
hit play test sound. The following output appeared on the console:

# system-config-soundcard
/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/soundcard.py:151:
DeprecationWarning: use gtk.ComboBox
  self.primaryDeviceOptionMenu = gtk.OptionMenu()
Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Playback 0 - 31
Front Left: Playback 23 [74%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 23 [74%] [on]
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1155:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC1D0p failed:
No such file or directory
aplay: main:508: audio open error: No such file or directory

I tried creating that device (I surmised that it's minor should be
48), but got the same message.

This is a "Burr-Brown" USB audio device, which is built into a JVC
receiver. Worked fine under FC2. My primary sound card has continued
working fine.

Any hints?

-Peter

PS: What are the chances of getting the release notes
(http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/3/i386/os/RELEASE-NOTES-en.html)
linked off the main and/or documentation page, like the FC2 notes?
