RPM + FC3 + kernel 2.6.8-1.521

Is another rpm process still locking the db? Run "ps axuww" to check
that. Maybe the daily packagelist creation run is still there?

Why would one run FC3 with the older kernel from FC2? Ok, you have a
specific module problem. You know that there are 2 megaraid modules? You
could try the other:

/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.678_FC3/kernel/drivers/scsi/megaraid
-> megaraid_mbox.ko
-> megaraid_mm.ko
